Black Friday in the mind? Try the Local Comic Shop Day to get these geeky items on the list

Time seems to go by differently this year. Believe it or not, it’s time to start shopping for the holidays.
Local Comic Shop Day at Neighborhood Comics gives you the chance to shop for the comic book fan on your list and maybe introduce the comics to new people as well.
“I think there is a comic for everyone,” said Lee Heidel, owner of Neighborhood Comics.
The comic book store holiday event takes place on Wednesday, November 25, featuring exclusive comics from titles like “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, “Spawn” and “Dune.”
In fact, Neighborhood Comics will appear on the back cover of “Spawn” along with other stores participating in Local Comic Shop Day.
Heidel said he was also excited to introduce people to “The Other DC Universe Story,” which he says tells the story of key characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman from a character perspective. minority.
“We add to that by running lots of offers and promotions throughout the store to thank our loyal repeat customers. “
Regular customers certainly came to the rescue earlier this year when the shutdown took place. Heidel said then that customers in Savannah and across the country have reached out to keep them in business.
Heidel said his customers and the store are part of the community, and today is a good way to remind people of that connection.
“In 2020, you can order comics from any store around the world, from very large retailers in big cities to other small stores like ours. But the local part is getting in, stepping outside your front door, and meeting your neighbors who are doing this for a living in your own community and helping to promote this amazing American art form.
If you are thinking of presenting comics to someone on your holiday shopping list, Heidel has plenty of suggestions.
“Comics are, of course, ideal for young people, children who are learning to read or who want to read. You want to encourage them to be more enthusiastic about reading to adults who like visuals to accompany their stories.
“The subject matter of the comics ranges from really light and quite funny animal comics to really intense horror books, science fiction and true stories from around the world.”
Of course, the Local Comic Shop Day covers things besides the comics as well.
“We have a lot of comic book stuff. This includes toys, statues, and even greeting cards.
Heidel said they will also have mystery boxes containing eight to ten comic books. Customers will get one free for every $ 75 spent that day.
The store is taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID. There will be a limited number of people allowed inside at one time, and employees will wipe down surfaces frequently.
“We want to make sure people are safe and comfortable, and it’s a positive experience for everyone. “
Spoken like a real superhero.
