Seattle is no stranger to innovation. As the birthplace of American staples like Starbucks and grunge music, Seattle has a special magic that can’t be beat (okay, if we’re real here, all of Washington has a special magic that cannot be beaten, but you catch our drift). Well, did you know that Seattle, Washington, is also possibly the birthplace of the comic book store as we know it? It’s true! Golden Age Collectables isn’t just Washington’s oldest comic book store – no, it just might be the oldest comic book store in the entire industry.
In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.
It all started in 1971, when a 19-year-old enthusiast bought his favorite comic book store. Over the years, it has become not only a local staple, but a national phenomenon. With the release of the official comic book price guide (also in 1971), as well as a boost from the Star Wars franchise, the business took off and the rest, as they say, is history.

He’s been a trailblazer and a trailblazer ever since, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Well, really, those days have gone nowhere. We’ve all just become adults – but that’s okay, because places like Golden Age Collectibles do exist, and as a result, we can walk into a store like we used to do and talk about comics like we always did.

Inventory is updated frequently, so there’s always something new to discover in Washington’s (and the world’s) oldest comic book store.

Of course, we can’t blame you – neither can we. Can we just live here? Ask a friend.

But, seriously, Golden Age Collectibles lives up to its name; this represents, well, the golden age of our lives, when all we had to worry about was our grades and maybe some chores (as well as the release of the next Batman comic) .
