‘Harry Potter’ Actors at Comic-Con and Winter Wizarding School

Whether you’re looking for an activity for yourself or looking to entertain your kids over the February holidays, you’ll find something for everyone in this roundup of events.

Winter Comic-Con

You can meet three Harry Potter actors to York Winter Comic Con in York, England, on February 13.

At York Racecourse, you can meet, get autographs and take selfies with Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle), Guy Henry (Pius Thicknesse) and Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley).

Sharon Hall works at Unleashed Events, which organizes comics nationwide, and she talked about what you can expect from the event.

If you’ve never been to a comic-con before, then York Winter Comic-Con is a great place to start. There is a bit of everything for everyone!

It’s great to see the kids meet their “real” superhero as well as see the dads showing off as Batman for the ultimate photo pose. It’s all about escaping reality and having fun!

Harry Potter Anecdotes

Taking place February 23 at Tako Taco in Knoxville, Tennessee, is a Harry Potter-themed quiz night.

The trivia will start at 7:00 p.m., but you can check in from 6:30 p.m., with a selection of food and drinks available using the QR code or at the bar.

The quiz is free and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Winter Wizarding School

From February 28 to March 4, your children will be able to experience the magic of Winter Wizarding Schoolwhich returns to the Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to entertain them during the February holidays.

Available for ages 7-11, the event will feature many exciting activities including a Sorting Ceremony, House Challenges and the announcement of the House Cup winner.

With daily hands-on activities, such as potion-making, herbology, and caring for magical creatures lessons, it’s sure to keep the kids busy while on vacation.

With limited numbers available, you must register early to ensure you receive your Winter Wizarding School acceptance letter. The cost for members is $275 and for non-members is $325.

Diagon Alley Vendor’s Fair

Looking for the perfect gift for yourself or someone Harry Potter passionate? Live the magic of Harry Potter with the Diagon Alley Vendor Fair, taking place at Books & Brews in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Butterbeer will be available for kids and adults, and you’ll have the chance to win a prize, as well as photo ops.

The list of potential vendors includes Cat’s Cradle Creative, which will bring its famous butterbeer body scrub and lavender-brown bath tub, and Weasel King Wares, which will bring Harry Potter frames, boxes and signs.

Tickets are limited and can be booked free online.

MPCA/ACA Annual Conference 2022: call for Harry Potter Papers

the Popular Culture Association of the Midwest and American Culture Association of the Midwest are holding their annual conference at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, October 14-16, 2022.

The associations have launched a call for papers relating to the field of Harry Potterinviting you to submit abstract proposals of 250 words on any aspect of Harry Potter.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, ‘Harry Potter’ and fandom, children’s and young adult literature, film, philosophy, religion, sociology, education or youth culture.

If you are a graduate student, you can apply for MPCA/ACA Travel Scholarships awarded competitively online.

The deadline for receipt of proposals is April 30, 2022 and articles can be submitted online.
