|

As we previously informed you, Boom Studios had yet another trick up its sleeve to promote BRZRKR, Keanu reeves” Comic Book Creator Debut with Co-Writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron garney, and this turned out to be a video of the star of The matrix and John wick franchises, promoting the comic book stores themselves.

In the video, Reeves presents BRZRKR and teaches fans how to pre-order the series from their local comic book store. And also how to find a store near them using the comic book store locator service.

We can’t think of a time in recent memory when a star of Reeves’ caliber gave comic book stores a signal like this. Perhaps the closest comparison is over 7 years ago, when Hugh jackman, promoted to Free Comic Day? And, unlike Keanu, Hugh became Wolverine, a jealousy that BRZRKR may have stemmed from.

Speaking about the show, Keanu said, “The structure of the story these days is that we follow a character named B and so we have that character’s origin story where we learn about his parents, how he was born, how did he become some kind of half-mortal, half-dead god. At the same time, we are in America today where our character B has made a deal with the state government- United, where he can hide there with his violence and what he is forced to do, what he no longer really wants to do. But in return, they study it, and there is therefore a scientific background, emotional / psychological in its present origin story that kind of goes back in time and so these parallel worlds are coming in right now through the architecture of the room. We’re hoping for 12 numbers. I mean, that’s what we aim to do…. “

“I was talking to the director of John Wick, Chad Stahelski, well i have this idea, and i want to do this thing where like a guy bangs in someone’s chest or rips an arm off or cuts someone in half and maybe fights through different times and different times eras. He’s a Viking; he is with the Roman armies and the Napoleonic army. He was in World War I and then started to become, well, who is this person, who is this guy, who can be this ship, what is this story. And then that kind of origin story from… I don’t want to give too much away. His dad isn’t immortal, and then he’s become the kind of potential guy that’s cursed. He is forced into violence, but he does not want to kill, he finds life precious, but he cannot die. And so I thought it was an interesting problem and I thought it was kind of an interesting psychological journey – for us time speeds up, for him time slows down. He wants it to stop; he wants his mortality; he does not want to be forced into this violence. And I thought that might also highlight a part of our own nature, and just have that kind of pathos for this character, who has trauma. He can remember everything, but he has memories he doesn’t want to remember, so I thought it was psychologically interesting and something we could all relate to. “
